LUI Che Woo Prize – Prize for World Civilisation 2018

We, the Prize Council of LUI Che Woo Prize Limited, are honoured to invite you, in your personal capacity, to submit one or more nominations for the LUI Che Woo Prize – Prize for World Civilisation (“the LUI Che Woo Prize”) for 2018.  The LUI Che Woo Prize aims to bring about a better world by recognising individuals or organisations that have made highly distinguished and commendable contributions to the welfare of mankind and thereby encouraging them to continue their efforts in the same direction.  Each year, one Prize may be awarded in each of the three Prize categories: Sustainability, Welfare Betterment and Positive Energy, in their respective Specific Areas of Focus.

For 2017, we are pleased to inform you that the awardees for our three Prizes are respectively:

For 2018, the Specific Areas of Focus of the three Prizes are as follows:

 

  • The Sustainability Prize

Specific Area of Focus: Development of Renewable Energy

 

  • The Welfare Betterment Prize 

Specific Area of Focus: Reduction of the Impacts of Natural Disasters

 

  • The Positive Energy Prize

Specific Area of Focus: Elimination of Illiteracy

 

Each awardee will receive a cash award of HK$20 million (equivalent to approximately US$2.56 million), a trophy and a certificate.

Nominations for the LUI Che Woo Prize can only be made by invited nominators like yourself.  The LUI Che Woo Prize does not accept applications or “self-nominations”.  We set out below examples of eligible and ineligible nominations to provide you with some guidance in making nominations.  We look forward to receiving your nomination of an individual or organisation that has actively contributed in an exceptional way to the Specific Area of Focus for one of the three Prizes.  For instance, with regard to the Sustainability Prize, we very much hope to see a nomination of an individual or an organisation that has contributed to the development of renewable energy on a scientific, technical, economic or other basis.  You are invited to submit one (1) nomination for each of the three Prizes, up to a maximum total of three (3) nominations.

You may log in to the LUI Che Woo Prize electronic nomination system (your log-in details are set out in the top right-hand corner of this letter) to make nominations. You may submit your nomination(s) by either online submission or post.

In addition, you may download from the electronic nomination system the following documents from which you may obtain further information about the LUI Che Woo Prize 2018 and the preparation and submission of your nomination(s):
